Drone Detection for Corrections & Public Safety
Drone contraband deliveries put pressure on prison security teams already managing gates, patrols and alarms. Fixed RF detection, drone direction finding and visible/infrared cameras give correctional facilities and public-safety teams complementary ways to detect activity, assess a contact and review an incident.

RF warning for the control room and patrol team
The Low-Altitude Sensing Station monitors 300 MHz–6 GHz and supports continuous operation from a 24 V supply. Its host functions include allow/deny lists, track replay, event logs and statistics.
Drone direction finding
360° azimuth coverage and ≤5° angular accuracy provide bearing information, rather than a verified pilot coordinate.
Handheld drone alerts
Sound and vibration warnings, ≤350 g excluding antenna, and ≥4 h operating endurance support mobile security staff.
Visual verification and incident review
The Dual-Spectrum EO/IR Camera combines 1920 × 1080 visible imaging with a 640 × 512 cooled infrared channel for day/night verification. Optical zoom is 20× visible and 22× infrared. Sensing-station position, track and distance information depends on aircraft type/model. Data handling and any transmitting countermeasures must comply with applicable law.

Will RF detection find every drone approaching a prison?
No. RF detection depends on detectable emissions and compatible signal types; a drone operating without detectable RF signals may not be detected by RF sensing alone. Plan complementary visual assessment, and do not treat either an RF alert or the absence of one as proof of contraband activity.
Can the direction finder identify the drone pilot’s location?
The direction finder provides bearing information, not a verified pilot coordinate. Its stated coverage is 360° in azimuth, with angular accuracy of ≤5°. Sensing-station position, track and distance information also depends on aircraft type or model, so define the location information needed before selecting equipment.
How can security staff assess whether a drone is carrying contraband?
Use visual verification to assess the contact rather than relying on an RF alert alone. The dual-spectrum camera combines 1920 × 1080 visible imaging and a 640 × 512 cooled infrared channel for day/night assessment. These capabilities do not guarantee that a payload will be identifiable; discuss viewing conditions and assessment requirements.
What equipment supports control-room monitoring and mobile patrols?
The fixed sensing station supports continuous operation from a 24 V supply and offers allow/deny lists, track replay, event logs and statistics for monitoring and review. Handheld detectors provide sound and vibration warnings for mobile staff, weigh ≤350 g excluding the antenna and have stated operating endurance of ≥4 hours.
What should a correctional facility provide for a configuration quotation?
Provide a site plan, priority areas, likely camera obstructions, available power, patrol requirements and incident-review needs. Specify whether the scope is equipment supply or system integration, and identify any required acceptance tests. Ask for FAT/SAT activities to be explicitly priced and defined in the quotation rather than assuming they are included.
Can distributors enquire about individual products rather than a complete prison installation?
Yes. Identify the sensing station, direction finder, EO/IR camera or handheld detector required, together with quantity and destination market. State whether you need equipment only or RF design, software and integration support, so the quotation addresses your intended scope rather than a complete facility installation.
